Physical development activities for toddlers

Children undergo different phases of development when growing from infants, to toddlers and then teenagers. This phase of childhood comes with lots of fun, plenty entertainment, learning and a whole lot of other adventures.

Any child can be a fast learner in a world full of competition and challenges. The child’s early growing years or the age of being a toddler can be the best stage for the child to learn the most. Everything a child learns at this stage in life is carried along with them as they grow older. Toddlers always learn through bumping, discovery, falling, relationships and many other aspects of life.

There are so many fun children’s indoor play centres with plenty of activities that you can enjoy with your child. By spending more time with your child on these activities you can help your child to improve physically, socially and emotionally. So do not keep your child from activities that can increase their zeal of learning, discovering and their social interaction.

You can find some amusing and entertaining children’s indoor activities for your child below:

Fun with Household Objects

Get your child some playful household toys. Allow them to pick their favourite toy and explain to them the essentials of that particular toy. While picking and studying the toy your child will also get to discover and understand how it works. Now, it is these kinds of discoveries that become a vital part of a child’s inquiring mind and arouse zeal towards learning and personal accomplishment.

Fun with Bean Bags

One thing worth noticing is that children really enjoy tossing the bean bags. Try to get your child a lot of old socks and dried beans too. Then, guide them to fill the old socks with the dried beans and you won’t believe the fun your child will have with these interesting bean bags.

Funny Flashlights

Enjoy playing the Torchlight game with your child. It is really simple; just grab a torchlight or flashlight. Use to the light to shine on various objects in your house and guide your child to identify those objects. Also, you can try to make this easier by telling them interesting stories using the reflections from the torchlight, and this can be done indoors too.

Visit a Museum

Children love to visit interesting places and learn new things. Try to visit places like museums where they can learn various kinds of art pieces, toys, games and various things that can help improve the intelligence and your child’s development skills.

Fun with Water

Toddlers enjoy playing with water. Simply by filling a bowl with water, give your child containers of various sizes. Allow your child to play by filling the various containers with water from the bowl. This game is not only fun to play but it will also help to improve your child’s hand and eye coordination.

Connecting Dots

Try to make random dots on large piece of paper that forms an interesting shape or character. Then guide your child to join the dots and ask if he recognizes the character produced.

 Shape Hunt

Try to draw and form various kinds of shapes. Select one particular kind of shape on the paper and help your child to search and identify an object that has that particular shape that you have selected.

Sing sweet songs of melody and rhymes to your child, they’ll enjoy it. The sound of music and tunes of melodious lyrics will help your child relax, and sleep smoothly and sweetly.

Most children enjoy playing the game of hide and seek so much. You don’t even need a large crowd of people to enjoy playing this game. You can easily turn your house into an interesting playhouse where you can enjoy playing the game of hide and seek with your child indoors.

Colouring Activities

You can agree with me when I say that children enjoy playing colour games. One activity that every child enjoys is trying to scribble different colours on a piece of paper. Do not try to restrict their imaginations; instead allow them to freely explore their creative ability to make very beautiful and colourful things.

Puzzle Games

Playing puzzle games with your child can be very interesting and educative as well. You can find any among the different kinds of puzzle games like matching, taking a child to his home, and many others that they enjoy playing indoors.

Halloween Crafts

Do not deny your child the fun of enjoying the excitement and entertainment of Halloween. Children enjoy making unique and attractive Halloween crafts. Halloween crafts such as bags, faces, hats, witches hand, crown, spiders and skeleton. The pumpkin carving is one of the interesting Halloween crafts that children enjoy.

Playing Motor games

Recent studies have shown that toddlers who engage in playing are far more likely to develop the skills they need faster than any other way. When you carefully plan activities for your child, you could also include some safe activities that could greatly improve their motor skills. Developing motor skills in early childhood could go a long way in the future physical and academic success of the child. By sharing activities that promote the motor skills of your child, you are helping to prepare your child for the challenging years ahead. As a parent, teacher or a guardian, try to include some games that will enhance your child’s motor skills.

Cutting

Now this is a very simple and interesting game you want to try out with your toddler; simply bring out a pair of scissors and old magazines and put their brains to work. Children enjoy the game of cutting because it increases their coordination. You might want to consider getting a scissors with safety edges for a toddler who is experienced with using a scissor. These kinds of scissors are usually sharp enough to cut through paper but cannot injure the child. To make it more fun and exciting, you can get your child a picture of animals or cartoons to cut through.

Threading

Threading is one of the interesting activities children enjoy doing. Simply provide them some bead and thread or you can also use colour pasta and string them. This activity may require them to have a lot of control. Threading is quite a safe practice for development of fine motor skills. To make it pretty easy, you can start with larger beads since they are much easier to thread and then gradually progress to the smaller ones with your child’s mental improvement and development.
