Mini town lets wannabe kids dress up for work

 

The age-old question of what you want to be when you grow up takes on a new meaning at a Frenchs Forest indoor “play town”.

Wannabees Family Play Town offers children a chance to dress up and try out some popular professions. The miniature town has 12 shops including a bank, beauty salon, hospital and supermarket.

The fire station even has a fake fire that the children – dressed in firefighter gear – can help put out with a hose.

Yezzit Rincon, who founded the centre with wife Liliana Mosquera, said it was a great way for children to socialise.

The youngsters loved dressing up and their imagination made for good play, he said.

He had seen many shy kids boost their confidence in the centre through imaginative play. They also had groups of children with autism and other special needs who attended regularly.

John Gorton of Balgowlah takes his four-year-old son Harry there regularly.

“He just loves dressing up and he likes all the professions but the moment it’s all about the fire brigade,” Mr Gorton said.
