French’s Forest Kids’ hotspot Wannabees calls itself a “Family Play Town”, and that’s exactly what it is. Spread over 1,100 square meters – with a Cafe offering free WiFi for parents.

Almost 10 per cent of parents have never let their child climb a tree, according to a Sydney survey. Conducted by Wannabees Family Play Town in Frenchs Forest, the survey casts new light on the trend of “bubble-wrapping” children.

Wannabees Family Play Town offers children a chance to dress up and try out some popular professions. The miniature town has 12 shops including a bank, beauty salon, hospital and supermarket. The fire station even has a fake fire that the children – dressed in firefighter gear – can help put out with a hose.

The northern beaches is home to many budding newsreaders – and these children know their stuff.

The youngsters who attended Wannabees Family Play Town at Frenchs Forest on Friday were lucky enough to take part in a mini news reading session with Sky News Australia anchor Tracey Spicer.
