ADULT WORLD IS CHILD’S PLAY

A new play centre in Frenchs Forest will offer children a miniature city where they can role play in an adult world.

Wannabees Family Play Town, the brainchild of Allambie Heights couple Yezzit and Liliana Rincon, features 13 real-life facilities where children can go inside to find out what happens behind doors normally closed to them.

A supermarket, television studio, gym, hospital, bank and police station are amongst the venues that can be enjoyed for casual plays or birthday parties.

Children will follow scripts as they take on the roles of the people operating them.

“The children can be a fireman, a beautician, a chef or a designer while others will be costumers. Half way through they can swap” Ms Rincon said.

“The aim is to develop children’s potential and creativity and strengthen self-esteem and confidence. They can explore the complexities of the adult world in a simple and fun way.”

The centre, the first in Australia, is on the site of the old Clown Town in Rodborough Rd. The Rincon’s waited three years to develop the idea and find the perfect site.

“We saw a similar centre in Colombia and knew we had to open one in Australia”, Ms Rincon said.

The city will not be completed until December, but the Wannabees Family Play Town also has a concert stage, a four-level circus play structure and a 6m climbing wall, which are operating.

Entry to Wannabees is free until October 31 and will cost $6.90 per child during November. Once complete, entry will cost about $18 per child. The centre is suitable for children two to 12 and bookings are open for birthday parties.
